Weather in Cusco
Peru, is quite varied and is characterized as a subtropical high altitude type, due to its location in the Andean region. Here are some key characteristics of the climate in Cusco:
- Rainy season: Generally, the rainy season in Cusco runs from November to March. During these months, frequent rains can be expected, especially in January and February, which are the rainiest months. Rainfall tends to be heaviest in the afternoons and evenings.
- Dry season: The dry season runs from April to October. During these months, the weather is drier and sunnier, with less chance of rain. However, temperatures can drop considerably during the night.
- Temperatures: Cusco has a relatively mild climate throughout the year. Daytime temperatures usually range between 15°C and 20°C (59°F and 68°F), while nighttime temperatures can drop to between 0°C and 5°C (32°F and 41°F). Cold nights are common, especially during the dry season.
